Diagnosis and management of pests of turf, trees, shrubs, and Christmas trees. We will provide guidance to the landowner, landscaper, or arborist in identifying controlling pest problems.

Soil testing. We will ensure that your soil has the proper balance of nutrients for healthy turf.

Development of integrated pest management plans. We will create a plan to significantly reduce pests around your home or commercial property, taking into consideration effectiveness, convenience, cost, and environmental impact. We can address a variety of pests around the home, including ticks and ants.

About Stan Swier

Dr. Stanley R. Swier is a recently retired Cooperative Extension Professor from the University of New Hampshire Department of Biological Sciences. He has spent 34 years developing Extension programs in the areas of pest management of turf and landscape insects, as well as pesticide safety education. He has done extensive research on the development of low risk chemical and biological controls for turf and ornamental plant pests. Stan has published over 120 technical articles on insect control and is considered a leading authority on the management of pests on turf, trees, and shrubs. Stan received his Ph.D. in 1976 from Ohio State University in turf entomology. While earning his Ph.D., he spent time at the Ohio State Agricultural Technical Institute teaching courses in entomology, plant pathology, weed science, and beekeeping. Stan is member of the Entomological Society of America, Professional Grounds Management Society, New England Sports Turf Managers Association, NH Golf Course Superintendents Association, NH Landscape Association, and NH Plant Growers Association.

Stan is also very familiar with the workings of town government and issues relating to water quality. He has served on the planning board and held the offices of School Moderator and Town Moderator in Barrington, NH for 25 years. He is also the treasurer of the Barrington Food Pantry and held that position for 15 years. Stan has been the Commissioner of the Swains Lake Village Water District since 1984 and is responsible for the monitoring of the water supply for environmental contaminants. As Coordinator of the Pesticide Education Training program at UNH for 26 years, he was responsible for training thousands of private and commercial applicators in the safe use of pesticides.
